The following protocols have been introduced to ensure you are safe and feel comfortable when visiting Glenfall Massage during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please be re-assured that Glenfall Massage is following the Government’s guidelines for Close Contact Services, as well as advice from our professional association and insurer.
Before Your Appointment
New Clients – As this is the first time I have treated you, we will do a consultation before your appointment. This helps me to tailor the massage to your individual needs and will take between 20-30 minutes. At the moment consultations are being done over the phone to reduce the length of appointments in line with Covid regulations. Alternatively, a consultation form can be emailed to you, however, it is helpful to have a discussion about your circumstances and expectations for your massage in advance.
Existing Clients will be asked if there have been any changes to your medical history and whether you have had Covid-19.
Have you been abroad recently? – If you have travelled abroad please do not arrange an appointment until 14 days after your return.
Have you received a Covid vaccination within the last week? It is advisable not to have a massage within 48 hours of receiving a Covid vaccination as you may experience mild side effects from the vaccine and have a sore arm. Personally I would encourage you to wait a week post-vaccination.
Are you in the Extremely Vulnerable group? If yes, please feel free to request the first appointment of the day when booking in.
On The Day Of Your Appointment
Are you well? On the day of your appointment please consider if you have any of the key Covid-19 symptoms:
- A high temperature
- A new, continuous cough
- A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
If you answer yes to any of the above or if you have a sore throat, cold, headache, body aches, new skin rashes or lesions, or feel generally unwell please postpone your appointment. Normally I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations but you will not be charged for rearranging an appointment due to Covid-19 related reasons.
On arrival – Please try to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible as I do not have a waiting room. You will be asked to put a mask on before entering the building and to sanitise or wash your hands.
Whilst it is no longer a legal requirement to wear a mask indoors, massage therapists have been advised to continue to ask customers to wear a mask. This is due to the close contact nature of our service and the fact face coverings may reduce the risk of transmission. I will also continue to wear one. For comfort, customers are welcome to remove their mask when they are lying face down during their massage.
Please come to your appointment by yourself, unless you need special assistance in which case this should be discussed with me beforehand. The practice is located on the first floor and there are two flights of stairs to access it.
Good ventilation is a key aspect of reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission. A window will be kept open throughout the treatment. Extra heating and blankets will be available to keep you warm if needed.
All surfaces and equipment in the treatment room are disinfected before every appointment and fresh laundry that has been washed at 60⁰C is used for each customer. A 30 minute gap is left in-between appointments to thoroughly clean and ventilate the treatment room.
Please be re-assured that Glenfall Massage is following the Government’s guidelines for Close Contact Services as well as advice from my professional association and insurer to keep customers and myself and my family safe. I take regular Covid lateral flow tests and have received both of my vaccinations.
If I was to develop any symptoms for Covid-19 I will stop working immediately and get a PCR test and self-isolate in line with current Government guidance. If I receive a positive test or am contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service I will inform patients seen in the previous 48 hours and will be legally required to pass their contact details to the NHS Test and Trace service.
