The following protocols have been introduced to ensure you are safe and feel comfortable when visiting Glenfall Massage during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please read this fully before attending an appointment and be re-assured that Glenfall Massage is following the Government’s guidelines for Close Contact Services, as well as advice from my professional association and insurer.
Before Your Appointment
New Clients – As this is the first time I have treated you, we will do a consultation before your appointment. This helps me to tailor the massage to your individual needs and will take about 20 minutes. At the moment consultations are being done over the phone due to Covid-19. Face-to-face appointments are limited to 1 hour so doing this in advance allows extra time for massage when you visit. Alternatively a consultation form can be emailed to you, however, it is helpful to have a discussion about your circumstances and expectations for your massage appointment in advance.
Existing Clients will receive a brief phone call or email to ask if there have been any changes to your medical history and whether you have had Covid-19.
Covid-19 Screening Form – Everyone will be asked to complete a Covid-19 screening form on arrival.
Payment by bank transfer is preferrable please. Ideally on the day before you arrive or whilst you are at the practice. This reduces the time spent in the treatment room and prevents having to handle cash. A payment machine is available if required and will be sanitised in-between clients.
Have you been abroad or to a current UK hotspot area? – If you have travelled abroad please do not arrange an appointment until 14 days after your return. If you have visited a current UK hotspot (currently defined as Covid alert level very high) please rearrange your appointment until 14 days after your return. The gov.uk website has a postcode checker for Covid alert levels if you wish to check: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
On The Day Of Your Appointment
Are you well? On the day of your appointment please consider if you have any of the key Covid-19 symptoms:
- Dry persistent cough
- Temperature over 37.8° centigrade
- Lack of taste or smell.
If you answer yes to any of the above or if you have a sore throat, headache, body aches, new skin rashes or lesions, or feel generally unwell please postpone your appointment. Our cancellation policy is currently suspended and you can rearrange your appointment for Covid-19 related reasons without any financial penalty.
On arrival – Please try to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible and wait outside the building. I will meet you at the front door of the building at your appointment time and I will be wearing a mask.
You will be asked to put a mask on before entering the building and to wash or sanitise your hands on arrival. I will politely ask you not to touch anything unnecessarily as you move around the building and I will open doors for you.
From 8 August 2020 Government guidelines state it is a mandatory requirement to wear a mask for Close Contact services such as massage. If you have a medical exemption please notify me in advance.
I will wear a face mask throughout the appointment and a visor, apron and gloves during the treatment.
My treatment room will look a little different now and all cushions and soft furnishings have been removed. Upon entering the treatment room you will be invited to scan an NHS Test and Trace QR code if you have a phone that supports this technology.
Please try to wear easy to remove clothes and minimal jewellery. You will be given a plastic container to put all of your belongings and clothes in, this is disinfected after every client. Please avoid bringing additional bags and belongings into the treatment room but do bring a bottle of water as I cannot provide drinks.
If you are an NHS front line worker, please change out of your uniform before visiting the practice.
Good ventilation is a key aspect of reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission. A window will be kept open throughout the treatment. Extra heating and blankets will be available to keep you warm.
When the treatment is over, please leave the linen and towels on the table and do not fold them or help to tidy.
All surfaces and equipment in the treatment room and communal areas are disinfected prior to every appointment, this includes door handles, stair banisters and all surfaces in the bathroom. Fresh laundry that has been washed at 60C is used for each treatment. A 30 minute gap is left in-between appointments to thoroughly clean and ventilate the treatment room and bathroom.
Please come to your appointment by yourself, unless you need special assistance in which case this must be discussed with me beforehand. The practice is located on the first floor and there are two flights of stairs to access it.
Please be re-assured that Glenfall Massage is following the Government’s guidelines for Close Contact Services as well as advice from my professional association and insurer. A thorough risk assessment has been completed to identify and reduce risks, a copy of this is available by email upon request.
If I develop any symptoms for Covid-19 I will cancel all appointments and self-isolate for 14 days and/or be tested.
